| Relia | Grafana Cloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | $0: 500,000 units a month (a request or a log line is 1 unit), 7 days of history, 3 services, 5 uptime monitors. | $0: 10k metric series, 50 GB each of logs and traces, 14 days of retention, 3 users and 3 on-call users. |
| First paid plan | Growth, $12 a month: 5 million units, 30 days of history, 10 services, 20 uptime monitors. Pro is $29. | Pro: a $19 monthly platform fee, then usage: metrics from $6.50 per 1k series, users from $8 each, on-call from $20 per active user. |
| As you grow | Over the limit, normal traffic is sampled 1 in 10 and errors are always kept; nothing is cut off. Growth and Pro can add paid use at $2 per million units, with a limit you set. | Each signal is metered on its own: metric series, GB of logs and traces processed, written and retained, users, test runs, sessions and host hours. |
| What it watches | Requests and traces, errors, logs, database calls, servers, browser sessions, web vitals, uptime checks and AI-agent runs. | Metrics, logs, traces and profiles, with application and frontend observability, built on Prometheus and OpenTelemetry. |
| Uptime and status page | Uptime and synthetic checks, and a public status page kept current from Relia's own checks. | Synthetic monitoring with HTTP, ping, DNS, TCP and k6 checks. We found no hosted public status page; its IRM integrates with Statuspage.io. |
| On-call | On-call rotation with escalation, Slack mentions and PagerDuty. | Grafana IRM for on-call and incident response, from $20 per active IRM user on Pro. |
| What the AI does | Turns what it sees into incidents written in plain words with the evidence cited, writes fix plans with a brief for your AI assistant, and checks after you deploy whether the fix worked. | Grafana Assistant answers questions, builds dashboards and runs root-cause investigations. |
| Does it change your code | No. It has no access to your repository and never opens pull requests. A rollback or restart through your deploy platform runs only after you approve it. | In public preview, Assistant's Managed Sandboxes can change code and open pull requests through its GitHub app. |
| AI price | Included in every plan, with monthly counts: Free has 300 incident write-ups, 3 fix plans and 30 questions. | $20 per active AI user a month on Pro, including 40M tokens; 3 AI users on the free tier. |
| Setup | npm install relia-sdk, then npx relia init (Python: pip install relia-sdk, then python -m relia). | Grafana Alloy (a distribution of the OpenTelemetry Collector) and OpenTelemetry SDKs. |
Choose Grafana Cloud if
- You want to build your own dashboards on Prometheus, Loki and Tempo.
- You may self-host one day: the open-source Grafana, Loki, Tempo and Mimir are AGPLv3.
- You have someone to design the metrics, alert rules and on-call schedules.
Choose Relia if
- You want to be told what needs you without writing queries or alert rules.
- You want one flat price instead of metering every signal.
- You want a public status page and fix checks built in, and nothing touching your code.
Switching from Grafana Cloud
Can I run Relia next to Grafana Cloud while I decide?
Yes. Relia installs as its own SDK and removes nothing, so you can run both while you compare. If your app already runs an OpenTelemetry tracer provider, Relia adds itself to it instead of starting a second one.
How long does setup take?
About five minutes: npm install relia-sdk, then npx relia init, which signs you in, asks what to watch and writes one file. Python apps use pip install relia-sdk, then python -m relia.
Does Relia change my code or open pull requests?
No. Relia has no access to your repository and never opens pull requests. It never acts on your servers on its own either: a rollback or restart it proposes through a platform you connected runs only after an owner or admin approves it. It writes a fix plan from the incident's evidence, with a brief you can copy into your AI assistant, and after you deploy it checks live traffic to tell you whether the fix worked.
What happens when I go over my plan's units?
Nothing is cut off. Normal traffic is sampled 1 in 10 and errors are always kept. On Growth and Pro you can switch on paid extra use at $2 per million units, with a limit you set.
How soon does Relia know what normal looks like for my app?
It starts learning from the first request and builds its picture of normal from about four weeks of your own traffic.
