| Relia | PostHog | |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | $0: 500,000 units a month (a request or a log line is 1 unit), 7 days of history, 3 services, 5 uptime monitors. | $0: 1 million analytics events, 5,000 session recordings, 100,000 exceptions and 10 GB of logs a month, in 1 project. |
| First paid plan | Growth, $12 a month: 5 million units, 30 days of history, 10 services, 20 uptime monitors. Pro is $29. | $0 base, then pay per use beyond the free amounts, for example $0.00037 per exception and $0.005 per recording at the first tier. No per-seat fees. |
| As you grow | Over the limit, normal traffic is sampled 1 in 10 and errors are always kept; nothing is cut off. Growth and Pro can add paid use at $2 per million units, with a limit you set. | Each product is priced per use with volume tiers, and you can set a billing limit per product; data sent past a limit is dropped. |
| What it watches | Requests and traces, errors, logs, database calls, servers, browser sessions, web vitals, uptime checks and AI-agent runs. | Product analytics, session replay, error tracking, logs, distributed tracing through OpenTelemetry, web vitals and LLM observability. |
| Uptime and status page | Uptime and synthetic checks, and a public status page kept current from Relia's own checks. | We found no uptime checks or status pages in PostHog's docs; UptimeRobot can be linked as a data source. |
| On-call | On-call rotation with escalation, Slack mentions and PagerDuty. | Error alerts to Slack, Discord, Teams or a webhook. We found no on-call scheduling in its docs. |
| What the AI does | Turns what it sees into incidents written in plain words with the evidence cited, writes fix plans with a brief for your AI assistant, and checks after you deploy whether the fix worked. | PostHog AI is an AI product analyst: it builds dashboards, surveys, alerts and feature flags, and can start coding tasks. |
| Does it change your code | No. It has no access to your repository and never opens pull requests. A rollback or restart through your deploy platform runs only after you approve it. | Self-driving, in open beta, opens pull requests for actionable issues for your team to review and merge. |
| AI price | Included in every plan, with monthly counts: Free has 300 incident write-ups, 3 fix plans and 30 questions. | Self-driving costs $15 per pull request after 3 free a month; PostHog AI includes 500 free credits a month. |
| Setup | npm install relia-sdk, then npx relia init (Python: pip install relia-sdk, then python -m relia). | A setup wizard (npx @posthog/wizard@latest), or an SDK per platform. |
Choose PostHog if
- Product analytics, feature flags and experiments are what you need most.
- You want analytics, replay and errors in one tool with no per-seat fees.
- You want an AI that drafts the fix as a pull request.
Choose Relia if
- You want your APIs, database, servers and uptime watched, not only what happens in the browser.
- You want a public status page and on-call in the same tool.
- You want one flat price, and nothing touching your code. Many teams run both.
Switching from PostHog
Can I run Relia next to PostHog while I decide?
Yes. Relia installs as its own SDK and removes nothing, so you can run both while you compare. If your app already runs an OpenTelemetry tracer provider, Relia adds itself to it instead of starting a second one.
How long does setup take?
About five minutes: npm install relia-sdk, then npx relia init, which signs you in, asks what to watch and writes one file. Python apps use pip install relia-sdk, then python -m relia.
Does Relia change my code or open pull requests?
No. Relia has no access to your repository and never opens pull requests. It never acts on your servers on its own either: a rollback or restart it proposes through a platform you connected runs only after an owner or admin approves it. It writes a fix plan from the incident's evidence, with a brief you can copy into your AI assistant, and after you deploy it checks live traffic to tell you whether the fix worked.
What happens when I go over my plan's units?
Nothing is cut off. Normal traffic is sampled 1 in 10 and errors are always kept. On Growth and Pro you can switch on paid extra use at $2 per million units, with a limit you set.
How soon does Relia know what normal looks like for my app?
It starts learning from the first request and builds its picture of normal from about four weeks of your own traffic.
